Upcoming Kenyan rapper Felix Opar alias Caterpillar is the latest millionaire in town after he emerged top in the just ended “The Odinare Rap Challenge” courtesy of leading Betting firm Odibets.
Caterpillar pocketed a whooping Ksh. 1 million. Benjamin Chadaka alias Ben C finished second and thereby pocketed Ksh. 500,000 while Elisha Odhiambo who used the stage name “Real Elai” came third by scooping 300,000 to crown up a successful plunge in the three weeks inaugural event.
Other winners were also recognised by receiving small tokens from the sponsors ranging from Ksh. 50,000.
This initiative was started by Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jhones who teamed up with sponsors Odibets gaming firm to launch the Online rapping contest dubbed “Odi-Nare rap Challenge” that brought together upcoming rappers in the country.
Speaking during the presentation of cheques to the winners, Khaligraph said the aim of the show was to boost, assist and identify new emerging talents in the online space through social media considering the hard times brought by the covid-19 pandemic.
“To me I felt I should come in and support the upcoming talents. I thank our great sponsors Odibets and participants of this inaugural event that kicked off three weeks ago. I’m impressed by the turnout and enthusiasm shown by the young rappers. The future looks bright in the local music Industry”said Khaligraph.
The winners will have an opportunity to sign a record deal with Khaligraph label-, The Blue link Corporation.
Odibet General manager Dedan Mbugua praised the winners for their rapping skills.
“We want to reach out and be accessible to youngsters with big dreams especially those from humble backgrounds.” Said Mbugua.
