A group of Nairobi residents have come out to oppose a petition to dissolve the Nairobi City County Government.

The residents, under the Umbrella of Bunge La Mwananchi lead by their president; Henry Shitanda and Nairobi Chapter National Youth Chairman Edward Githaiga, have termed the petition by Patrick Githinji and Muthurwa residents association as mischievous and unwarranted.

The group has submitted its own petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta, outlining to him some of the projects Governor Mike Sonko has done since taking over office.
The group is specifically citing improved revenue collection, road projects and the improved garbage collection in the city as some of the evidence vindication the Governor.

“With the recent passed county budget, we are not shy to mention that the county has gone to an extent of building the Dandora stadium and Jacaranda stadium,” part of the statement read in reference to the ongoing projects to uplift sports standards in the county.

They are also citing the solid working relationship between the county assembly and the executive as a major boost to development in the city.
“MCAs have declared that they are working together with the executive and hence it’s clear that both entities are operating on the same lane to fulfill the mission, goals and agenda to the needs of residents,” the statement further read.
