City Hall will construct a recreational park on the 1.5km road reserve along the famous Spine Road in Embakasi East.
According to Environment Executive Larry Wambua, the road reserve had been turned into a dumping site; illegal structures had been set up over the drains emitting a bad stench.
Wambua told the Sunday Express that this is part of Governor Sonko’s plan to beautify the City as well as creating employment to the youths.
“We are going to convert the place into one of the best recreational parks around. This will help in creating jobs for the local residents as well,” Wambua said.
Early this month, the Governor launched the construction of a major recreational park in Kangemi and promisd to ensure the same is done in almost all the constituencies.
During the event, Wambua told Journalists that the county was not incurring any extra costs because the grounds are readily available and that the exercise is just part of the beautification process.
Other places targeted include Kamkunji,Huruma,Dandora,Pipeline and Kawangware which have previously been affected by the garbage menace.
Alonside the creation of recreational parks out of dumping sites, the county is also conducting monthly clean up exercise with the next one to be officialy conducted by Governor Sonko in Kamkunji.
