Jubilee Party MCAs in Nairobi County have been summoned to a crucial meeting at the party headquarters today.

Agenda for the meeting has not been disclosed or formal invitation made to the media by the ruling party.

However, communication to the MCAs which was seen by the CEO read in part: “Hon. Member, you are notified that there is a scheduled meeting of all Nairobi Jubilee Party Members on Monday 8th October, 2018 at the party headquarters at 9.00 am. Kindly attend without fail”. Sources said

Jubilee may have called the meeting to put it’s house in order as the majority party in the Nairobi County Assembly.

“I believe the party has summoned the MCAs in order to do some housekeeping, being the majority party in the county assembly, especially after recent developments in which the speaker was impeached”, a county party official who sought anonymity told the CEO.

Last month, the county assembly impeached Speaker Beatrice Elachi who was elected on a Jubilee ticket upon being fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, there has been disquiet from the party since her impeachment and subsequent ejection from office at the county assembly.

Even though, the beleaguered Speaker has moved to court for redress over her removal. She has also instituted contempt proceedings against the assembly.

But two weeks ago, the House Majority Chief Whip and Ngara Ward MCA Chege Mwaura of Jubilee Party was elected the acting speaker in a move that appeared to seal Elachi’s fate. Nonetheless, Elachi is clutching on a straw for a possible court settlement.
