The mulembe nation in Nairobi have today issued the Orange Democratic Movement a deadline of Friday, April 22nd to issue honourable Tim Wanyonyi a certificate to vie for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat.
Speaking during a press briefing Westlands MP aspirant read out their demands which should be met by the party.
Among the demands, the Luhya nation stated that they want five cabinet secretary slots; Road and Transport, Health, Water, Finance and Environment. They also want to head five constituencies out of the existing seventeen in Nairobi; Westlands, Makadara, Embakasi, Lang’ata and Dagoretti. Moreover, they demanded that the community be given a chance to have leaders in 24 out of the existing 85 wards in Nairobi County.
Leaders present during the press briefing included ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, former Nairobi speaker Beatrice Elachi, George Aladwa among a host of Nairobi MCAs from the community.
“Wanyonyi was the only gubernatorial candidate for ODM in Nairobi county. The issue is not with ODM but with our other partners within Azimio. As ODM, we still stand behind Wanyonyi and we believe he is the best candidate for the Nairobi seat,” said the ODM Secretary General.
This follows Polycarp Igathe’s late entry into the race for Nairobi Governor. The Azimio-OKA team is expected to unveil its dream team for Nairobi on Thursday, 21st April.
