Fast rising retailer Quickmart Supermarkets has opened its first 24-hour outlet inLavington’s Valley Arcade as it counts on quality services and convenience to penetrate the country’s competitive retail sector.
Quickmart’s latest strategic location is expected to serve customers in the wider Kilimani region that includes Kileleshwa and Lavingtonneighborhoodswhere residents have been having limited shopping options, relying on nearby malls that close before midnight.
Marketing head at Quickmart Betty Wamaitha said the retailer, the pioneer estate shopping experience in Kenya is adding time factor to its quality services to give customers both guaranteed price and convenience.
This area is populated by high-income shoppers who require the flexibility of shopping at any time. This one stop branch will fill unmet shopping need,” Wamaithasaid.
The new Lavingtonbranch that has at least 150 attendants brings the retailer’s total outlets to 10, adding to the two in Nakuru, and one each in KahawaSukari, Ruiru, Waithaka, Eastern Bypass, Ruaka, Ruai and another at Thindigua along Kiambu Road.
Quickmart Supermarket which stems from Nakuru County is following in the footsteps Tuskys and Nakumatt Supermarkets that rose to become market leaders locally and regionally respectively.
Nukumatt’s vigor was however been slowed by Sh35 billion debt, forcing it to close dozens of branches in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The family owned supermarket chain started in 2006 by late businessman John Kinuthiahas embarked on a compound expansion plan that targets both low and high end clients.
The Lavington branch for instance has invested in high quality cereal storage facilities made mostly of timber.
There is also an in store van with fresh vegetables, classy meat section, liquor and eatery with top chefs at service.
The retailer is banking on growing middle class and youthful population in Kenya to expand to more residential areas in and outside Nairobi even as retailers move from traditional malls and town centres to bring services closer to customers.
