Umoja Summit Party has today endorsed Walter Mong’are popularly known as Nyambane as its Presidential flag bearer in the upcoming August 9th polls.
Nyambane who recently resigned after serving as the presidential advisor on youth affairs gave his acceptance speech in presence of other delegates of the party as well as representatives of the party from all the forty-seven counties.
“I solemnly accept to be Umoja Summit Party’s presidential candidate in the country’s general elections of 9th August 2022 and that I will solemnly serve the Umoja Summit Party and all the members and supporters of the party in compliance with the code of conduct of the party,” said Mr. Mong’are as part of his acceptance speech.
The event which was the party’s first-ever National Delegates Conference (NDC) saw him sign the documents authorizing him to legally be the party’s flag bearer and was officiated by Mr. Matano Chengo, the party’s Chairperson and Naomi Sidi, the party’s Secretary-General.
As part of his speech, the presidential aspirant echoed a message of peace to President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. He also noted that his political bid to contest for presidency in the upcoming elections is not a competition but an opportunity to exercise what he had learnt from them as his bosses and mentor respectfully.
“This is not a competition between me and any other presidential aspirants but rather a competition against our dreams and aspirations,” said Mr. Mongare.
He was however reluctant on revealing the party’s campaign strategy.
