Westlands women leaders have echoed their unfailing support for their incumbent Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi to run for a third term.
Speaking during a press briefing earlier today, Ruth Makokha the chairperson of the “Wasupa Na Tim” stated that they were ready to welcome Mr. Wanyonyi back and work together with him to continue making Westlands constituency better.
“We as young mothers from Westlands Constituency had already given Honorable Tim Wanyonyi our blessings to go ahead and lead as Nairobi’s Governor but our journey was unexpectedly cut off,” said the chairperson. “We however fully affirm our support for Honorable Tim Wanyonyi and welcome him back as our Member Of Parliament,” she continued.
The leaders who represented various wards in the constituency stated that Mr. Wanyonyi was contesting for the Parliamentary seat under a registered political party; the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and not as an independent candidate as it was being speculated.
“Honorable Tim Wanyonyi is affiliated to only one political party; the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which is under the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance,” stated the chairperson.
Easier access to education by all, women empowerment and political leadership by women in all positions were some of the virtues highlighted by the leaders that have been brought by Mr. Wanyonyi during his tenure as Member of Parliament.
They however noted that the race for the gubernatorial seat was not yet over; Mr. Wanyonyi will still contest for the position in the future 2027 general elections.
